How to play Calculation Solitaire

Start foundations with ace, 2, 3 and 4. Build by +1, +2, +3 and +4, wrapping after king. Every exposed stock card must go to a foundation or one of four waste piles.

How to play

  1. Start the four foundations with an ace, 2, 3 and 4.
  2. Build them in intervals of one, two, three and four; suit is ignored.
  3. Play the exposed stock card directly or park it on one of four waste piles.
  4. Only a waste pile's top card may move, and only to a legal foundation.
  5. Win by moving all 52 cards to the foundations.

Strategy tips

  • Keep low ranks accessible early and delay tens, jacks and kings.
  • Consider reserving one waste pile for kings and other late cards.
  • Check all four next-rank indicators before parking the stock card.
  • Never cover a card you need soon with one that cannot move for many steps.

Frequently asked questions

Do suits matter in Calculation?

No. Foundation moves depend only on rank.

Can cards move between waste piles?

No. A parked card can leave only from the top of its waste pile to a legal foundation.
