Prefer moves that turn over a hidden tableau card, especially in the longest covered column.
Protect empty columns
A king without a useful run can waste your strongest space. Empty a column with a specific king-led move in mind.
Be patient with foundations
A legal foundation move can still be premature when that card is needed as a bridge in the tableau.
